Peptides for longevity and anti-aging: what the evidence says
Epitalon is promoted for telomeres and lifespan, and MOTS-c for metabolism and exercise capacity. Both are popular in longevity circles.
This page has not yet been reviewed by a credentialed medical professional. It is educational and is not medical advice.
The evidence for both is mostly animal and cell research. No controlled trial has shown either extends lifespan or slows aging in people.

Epitalon
Animal studies onlyWhat people use it for: Longevity, sleep and "telomere" claims.
What the evidence says: Evidence comes largely from animal studies and small reports from one research group.

MOTS-c
Animal studies onlyWhat people use it for: Metabolism, exercise capacity and "longevity". A peptide encoded by mitochondrial DNA.
What the evidence says: Mostly mouse and cell studies. The few human "trials" on PubMed measured the body's own MOTS-c levels after exercise, not MOTS-c as a treatment.

Common questions
Does epitalon lengthen telomeres?
Lab studies in human cell lines report telomere effects, and animal studies come largely from one research group. There are no controlled human trials showing anti-aging benefits.
Has MOTS-c been tested in people?
Not as a treatment. The few human studies on PubMed measured the body's own MOTS-c levels, for example after exercise.
